Porsche Carrera

One can argue that Porsche is more recognized for the name Carrera than the origin of where the name came from. The Carrera name was first used in the 1950’s to commemorate Porsches’ success in the Carrera Panamerica race. Certain 356 models were designated as Carreras. More often than not, these cars were equipped with the 4 cam Porsche motors.

Race cars of the 60’s used the Carrera name. The 904 Carrera GTS and 906 Carrera 6 models achieved many victories on race tracks around the world. Then, after 7 years the name was back. In 1973, Porsche released the Carrera RS and RSR. More than 1500 of these cars were produced. Most notably was the Carrera script located on the bottom of each side and also simple badging on the rear deck lid.

Still used on new models.

Proceeding models the SC, 3.2 Carrera the 964, 993, 996, 997 and 991 are all badged as Carreras.

In short, the Carrera name is one of the most recognized car models on the planet.

Many Porsche cars have ended up in some state of disrepair. This is especially true for race cars produced by Porsche from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Many of these cars have been reduced to a collection of parts. I am happy to speak with anyone selling a Porsche project car in any condition regardless if the car is complete or missing pieces.

901Motorsports buys any Porsche Carrera model from the 550 Spyder through the 993 model. Any Condition, Anywhere
